For cooling down a patio, a misting fan can be the right fit. They are portable, and really cool things down. They require electrical power, and a garden hose to supply water.  Some units oscillate to keep the mist moving to all areas

For temporary misting, a “clip and go” system works well. Connect it to the garden hose, and let the cool begin. These kits work great for pets and dog houses too!

Patio misting systems operate off of the garden hose. They are plumbed with supply hoses, PVC pipe, or copper lines. They have misting tips installed every 18-24 inches. These Do-it yourself systems are attached to the home with small clips. 

For resort like cooling that offers true “fog like” mist, a professional system is the solution. These systems utilize high pressure water that is pushed through multiple misting tips. A high pressure system can cool the surrounding air by 30 degrees.  These systems are not an easy DIY project, and are best left to the pros.
